Arizona fire death now ruled a suicide

KINGMAN, Ariz. — An investigation into a fire death in northwest Arizona earlier this month has led to the conclusion that the victim committed suicide.

The Mohave County medical examiner determined that Curtis Duane Johnson, 53, died of a self-inflicted gunshot to the head at his Fort Mohave home.

Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Trish Carter said investigators determined that he doused his bed with gasoline, lay in it and set it on fire just before he shot himself Oct. 6.

She said Johnson had been having domestic difficulties with his wife.
