Clark County coroner identifies teen killed in dirt bike accident

The Clark County coroner’s office has identified the 16-year-old boy who died after crashing his dirt bike into an SUV Tuesday.

Las Vegas resident Shane Sanders was riding a Honda off-road motorcycle just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of South Hualapai Way and Alta Drive when he ran a red light and slammed into a Toyota SUV, Metro Lt. David Gordon said. Sanders was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 34-year-old female driver of the SUV was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Police said the woman did not show impairment.

According to the coroner’s office, Sanders died from multiple blunt force injuries. His death was ruled an accident.
