Henderson police officer found dead in his home

A young, off-duty Henderson police officer was found dead in his home Monday morning, but no foul play is suspected, police said.

David John Sigmund, 33, was found in his bedroom around 7:30 a.m., according to the Clark County Coroner’s office.

Sigmund joined the Henderson Police Department in September 2005 and worked in the department’s community relations division.

Henderson police said there was no indication of foul play and the investigation has been turned over to the coroner’s office to determine cause of death.

Sigmund was honored in 2011 with the department’s Valorous Conduct and Life Saving awards.
