Nevada man sentenced for killing woman, burying her in his backyard

A Sparks man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a woman and burying her body in his backyard.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reported that 57-year-old Thomas E. Brant was sentenced Wednesday for the death of 51-year-old Kimberley Seaton.

Seaton went missing after a domestic dispute with her former boyfriend, who lived across the street from Brant.

Authorities said she had been staying at Brant’s residence after the dispute.

Police say Seaton was strangled.

Her body was found in a shallow grave in Brant’s backyard at his Sparks home.

He was arrested Dec. 11.

Prosecutors said Brant will have to serve 20 years before he becomes eligible for parole.
