Fire crews battling 200-acre wildfire west of Las Vegas
Fire crews are battling a large wildfire near Lovell Canyon Road, north of State Route 160, officials said.
The fire, which started at about noon Sunday, has burned at least 200 acres, according to Ray Johnson, a fire prevention officer with the Forest Service.
No injuries have been reported.
Crews from the U.S. Forest Service, Clark County Fire Department and the Bureau of Land Management are fighting the blaze. At least six engines, along with a helicopter and large and small aircraft, also were enlisted to fight the fire, which is located within the Spring Mountain National Recreation Area.
Officials believe the fire was caused by man, rather than nature, Johnson said.
No structures are endangered by the fire, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jeff Goodwin said.
Lovell Canyon Road and Nevada State Route 160 were closed for several hours Sunday afternoon.
Lovell Canyon is located about 25 miles west of Las Vegas.
