Five injured in Lake Mead boat explosion

Five people were injured in a boat explosion at the Callville Bay Marina in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area this evening.

National Park Service rangers and firefighters, and the Clark County Fire Department responded when marina employees reported the incident at 6 p.m.

Seven people from Las Vegas were aboard when the explosion happened. Of the five who were injured, three were transported to University Medical Center.

Investigators suspect the explosion may have been caused by a build-up of gasoline fumes.
