11-year-old girl hit by car when crossing against signal

An 11-year-old girl crossing the street against a "do not walk" signal was critically injured Tuesday morning when she was struck by a vehicle in the southwest valley, Las Vegas police said.

The identity of the girl was not released.

Police said the crash occurred at 7:03 a.m. on Jones Boulevard, south of Reno Avenue. Police said the girl was crossing Jones from east to west when a 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by 26-year-old Sara Kim was traveling south on Jones. The girl entered the southbound lane and was struck, police said. She was transported to University Medical Center. The crash is under investigation.
