20 people displaced after apartment fire in south Las Vegas

Twenty people were displaced after a fire Tuesday night at the Paradise Spa Apartments in south Las Vegas, a Clark County Fire Department official said.

Personnel responding to the fire about 10:30 p.m. reported smoke and fire engulfing several apartments at the complex at 9457 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Chief Roy Session said in a news release.

The fire caused heavy damage to eight of the 16 apartments. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 11:50 p.m.

One person was injured and was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena campus, he said.

The American Red Cross is assisting 16 adults, three children and two pets.

Damage has not been estimated and the fire’s cause remains under investigation.
