4 people, 2 pets displaced after Henderson fire

Four people and two pets were displaced early Sunday morning after a house fire in Henderson.

The Henderson Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire at a home on Devon Way, near Wigwam Parkway and Arroyo Grande Boulevard. The fire started out small in the air conditioning unit but spread under the trailer in the floor space and to the attic, according to Henderson spokeswoman Kathleen Richards.

Two adults, two children and two pets were home during the fire and called 9-1-1 after their power went out and they smelled smoke.

The total loss is estimated at $150,000. The cause of the fire was undetermined.

A city of Henderson building inspector and fire investigator, NV Energy Inc. and Southwest Gas all responded to the scene.

The American Red Cross is assisting the residents.
