Clark County coroner IDs teen fatally shot Friday

The Clark County coroner’s office has identified a Las Vegas teenager who police found shot in the east valley last week.

Police found 17-year-old Angel Leon Campos in the 3100 block of Chadford Place, near the Valley View Boulevard and Pennwood Avenue intersection about 10:40 p.m. on Friday.

Metro initially said Campos died Saturday, but he was not declared brain dead — which is considered legally dead under Nevada law — until Sunday night.

The coroner’s office was not notified until days later, and Campos was kept on life support until Wednesday.

Officers found Campos lying between two vehicles suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, and he was taken to University Medical Center where he later died.

Police said Campos was waiting for a family member in the condominium complex when he was shot. Two men were seen fleeing the scene afterward.

This is the 51st homicide in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
