Deadly Vegas crash follows store robbery

A woman was killed and another one was injured in a car crash that followed a convenience store robbery late Wednesday night, Las Vegas police said.

Officers responded to the accident at 2251 S. Fort Apache Road, just north of West Sahara Avenue, about 11:30 p.m. The driver of a speeding 2004 Chevy Aveo lost control and crashed into a street light pole and a tree, police said.

An 18-year-old unidentified woman died at the scene and 20-year-old Anna Karac was taken to University Medical Center. Her injuries were not severe, police said.

Before the crash, the car was reportedly involved in a convenience store robbery near Charleston Boulevard and Hualapai Way, about three miles southwest of the crash site, police said.

Two unidentified men in the car fled the scene, police said.

The dead woman’s identity will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Metro’s traffic fatal unit investigated the accident into Thursday morning, police said.
