Downtown vehicle fire hospitalizes one person

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue extinguished a vehicle fire downtown Saturday morning that hospitalized a person.
Authorities were dispatched to railroad tracks behind the Smith Center for Performing Arts about 8:30 a.m., department spokesman Tim Szymanski said.
A vehicle was on fire and the driver was taken to University Medical Center with a leg injury, Szymanski said.
Smoke plumes could be seen from Interstate 15.
The fire was being investigated by the Union Pacific Railroad police, Szymanski said.
