Garage fire damages Henderson home

Two people were displaced after a garage fire Thursday evening in Henderson, according to the Henderson Fire Department.

The fire department responded to the garage fire of a one-story home about 6 p.m. near College and Mission drives.

The owner of the home tried to extinguish the fire. He left the home and phoned 911.

The fire had spread into the house and throughout the attic once fire crews arrived, but they were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

The American Red Cross assisted two adults displaced from the fire. The homeowner was treated for smoke inhalation. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion.

The cost of damages is estimated at $120,000. The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
