Man injured in a Henderson house fire

A man was injured in a Henderson house fire Wednesday morning, the Henderson Fire Department said in a statement.

The Henderson Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday on Mineral Hill Lane, near Horizon Drive and Pacific Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke coming from the back of a single-story single-family home. Firefighters entered the home and extinguished the fire, containing the fire to the kitchen area.

A man who lives in the house was injured in the fire and waiting outside when firefighters arrived. He was taken to University Medical Center with nonlife-threatening burns to his face and hands, the release said.

A Henderson fire investigator, Henderson Police, NV Energy and Southwest Gas Corp. helped secure the property.

The injured man and his wife were displaced by the fire. Its cause is under investigation; damages are estimated at $80,000.
