Two people were taken to the hospital early Sunday morning with injuries following a wrong-way crash involving three vehicles, police said.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, at approximately 1:18 a.m. a Lexus was traveling the wrong way on the 215 Beltway near Warm Springs Road, heading west in the eastbound lane, when it struck a Jeep Wrangler and a Toyota SUV.
The Toyota SUV was occupied by three females, who received minor injuries but were not taken to the hospital, NPH trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.
The adult male driver of the Jeep, the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to the University Medical Center trauma unit with serious injuries, Stuenkel said. The man sustained "pretty serious injuries," Stuenkel said, but she said she did not think they were life-threatening.
The male driver of the Lexus, also the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to the Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center trauma unit. His injuries were not life-threatening, Stuenkel said.
The driver of the Lexus was "booked in absentia" on suspicion of driving under the influence, Stuenkel said. The man will face a felony charge of DUI with accident resulting in substantial bodily harm, and misdemeanor charges of driving the wrong way and seatbelt requirement, Stuenkel said.
No further information was immediately available.
