Vacant home catches fire in East valley

A Sunday afternoon fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damages to a vacant home in east Las Vegas, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Just before 3:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 1724 Capistrano Ave. near East Desert Inn Road and South Eastern Avenue, the release said. Upon arrival, personnel reported a two-story, single-family house with smoke coming from both floors of the home, a release said.

Firefighters reported poor visibility and high heat. Additional help was requested to assist with the fire.

The statement said crews made an offensive fire attack and put the fire out in about 20 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
