A coroner's inquest into the death of a 15-year-old boy who was shot by a Las Vegas police officer is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. today at the Regional Justice Center.

The inquest into the death of Tanner Chamberlain will take place in courtroom 11A.

Chamberlain was shot in the head Sept. 29 by officer Derek Colling as the teenager held a knife near his mother's throat.

The mother has described her son as bipolar.

Authorities said Colling had responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Sunridge Apartment Homes at 4855 Vegas Valley Drive, near Nellis Boulevard.
