A man is dead, another man is hospitalized after a southeast valley shooting late Saturday night, police say.

Metro‘s dispatch received a call from an adult male, saying he and another man had been shot, and they were driving to the hospital about 10:50 p.m., Metro officer Laura Meltzer said Sunday.

Police officers met the men at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, near the intersection of Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road, where one was pronounced dead on arrival, Meltzer said.

The second man suffered nonlife-threatening injuries and remains at UMC.

Meltzer said the men were involved in an altercation at an apartment complex east of Boulder Highway when the shooting occurred.
