Motorcyclist dies after striking vehicle Sunday night

A motorcyclist died after trying to evade police Sunday night on East Charleston Boulevard near Linn Lane.

A Las Vegas police officer attempted to stop an unregistered Honda motorcycle about 10:30 p.m. on Charleston near Tree Line Drive, according to Las Vegas police spokesman Lt. Dave Gordon.

The rider increased speed and drove off. The officer continued to follow the motorcycle, monitoring it from a distance, Gordon said.

The motorcyclist sped through multiple red lights on Charleston, then struck a 2006 Dodge Caravan making a left turn onto Linn Lane, according to police.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. The driver of the Dodge Caravan was not injured.

Police are still investigating the incident.
