5 Northern Nevadans indicted after feds find 64 stolen guns

Five Northern Nevada residents have been indicted on gun charges after federal prosecutors said they were found with 64 handguns, shotguns and rifles that had all been stolen.

Joshua James Stout, 29, Danny Duane Wharton, 46, and Sarah Gravelle, 25, all of Elko, are charged with two counts of possession of stolen firearms. Mason Miller Warren, 37, and Janae Stanton, 24, both of Wells, are charged with one count of possession of stolen firearms, the U.S. Attorney’s office said in a release Tuesday.

The 64 guns were divided among the group, but Gravelle had an additional 12, the release said.

Warren, Stout and Wharton also face charges of being felons in possession of firearms, the release said.

After their arraignments Monday, Gravelle and Stanton were released on bond. Warron, Stout and Wharton remain in custody. Trial is pending for all.

“We will pursue federal charges against persons who possess stolen weapons, especially against persons who previously have been convicted of felony offenses,” U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden said in the release.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Elko County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
