Body of man reported missing Monday recovered from Topock Gorge in Colorado River

The body of a man reported missing Monday was recovered Wednesday from the Colorado River’s Topock Gorge area.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s office said foul play isn’t suspected and that the death of Ricky Dean Crea, 32, was accidental.

Crea was reported missing Monday by a woman who was to have met him Sunday near the Topock Marina. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Trish Carter said the woman said she found Crea’s parked vehicle, and found some of his belongings by the river, but that Crea never showed up for their meeting.

Carter said Crea’s shoes and shirt were found on the riverbank and that investigators think he went under while wading or swimming. His body was found about 4 miles downriver at about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday.

An autopsy is pending at the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office.
