Northwestern Arizona man sentenced for stabbing his friend to death

KINGMAN, Ariz. — A Bullhead City, Ariz., man apologized when sentenced Wednesday for killing his friend nearly three years ago.

Richard Enriquez, 51, was given a 14-year prison term as prescribed in a plea agreement convicting him of second-degree murder in the March 2011 death of Eric Steven Snyder, 55.

“I’m real sad for what happend,” Enriquez told Mohave County Superior Court Judge Steve Conn. “I miss my best friend of 18 years and I’m ashamed of what I did.”

Prosecutor Ken Skousen told the court that both men were heavily intoxicated when they fought in Snyder’s apartment in the 300 block of River Glen Drive. The victim’s body was discovered several days after he suffered more than a dozen stab wounds.
