One person in custody after shots fired near Boulder City High School

A person suspected of firing a series of shots about a quarter mile from Boulder City High School on Thursday afternoon is in custody, Boulder City police confirmed.

Officers responded at about 4:25 p.m., when "multiple" people called police saying they'd heard shots fired. As of 6:30 p.m., police said no one was injured when the bullets rang out in public.

The shooting was near the high school but not on campus, Boulder City spokesman JC Davis said. He added that the scene was near Adams Boulevard and Darlene Way.

Police have not yet named the shooting suspect, who was arrested on scene.

When asked about the shooting, Vanessa Ward, secretary to Boulder City's police chief, said "any and all events currently under investigation cannot and will not be discussed."
