Motorcyclist dead following accident with truck

A motorcyclist died after crashing into a truck in the east valley on Sunday, according to Las Vegas police.

A 23-year-old man was riding east on Carey Avenue and crashed into the right side of a Dodge truck going in the opposite direction.

Police responded to the wreck on Carey, near Pine Creek Road, at approximately 4:20 p.m.

Traffic fatality detectives believe the rider was speeding and driving aggressively, swerving between vehicles and leaving tire marks on the road.

The rider was taken to University Medical Center, where he later died.

A police supervisor said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time, but detectives were still investigating.

The man’s identity and cause of death will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office once his family has been notified.
