ROAD ALERT: Some downtown Las Vegas streets to close for weekend Punk Rock Bowling festival

Portions of four downtown Las Vegas streets will be closed over the Memorial Day weekend for an outdoor music festival.

The three-day Punk Rock Bowling 2014 event runs Saturday, Sunday and Monday at Seventh Street and Stewart Avenue.

City officials said the four blocks of streets surrounding the festival site — Sixth and Seventh streets and Stewart and Mesquite avenues — would be closed to through traffic beginning Friday at 8 a.m., continuing through Tuesday at 1 a.m.

Punk Rock Bowling, which is sold out all three days, features live music performances by 27 bands, food and drink vendors and an expected attendance of 6,000 people each night.

The annual event, which began in 1999, also includes a comedy show, three afternoons of punk-themed film screenings and poker and bowling tournaments at several casino bowling centers.
