Mayor promises sports team in LV

In one of her strongest statements to date regarding Las Vegas' renewed pursuit of a pro sports team, Mayor Carolyn Goodman told a local Rotary Club "on my dying breath there will be an NBA team, I promise you."

Her comments came near the end of a 45-minute talk to the Rotary Club of Las Vegas Summerlin at TPC at the Canyons.

In April, after her first State of the City speech, she told reporters she was "absolutely determined" to continue the push for a new arena and an NBA team, goals established by her husband, former Mayor Oscar Goodman during his recent two terms.

She told the Rotarians, "I am committed to the NBA and getting them into an arena downtown. My hope is that will happen somewhere in the I-95 and I-15 area.

"It's a natural place with not much having to be done to create an easy access and egress," she added.

POLICE REPORT RELEASED

Las Vegas police found a trashed suite at Wynn Las Vegas when called to the scene of a domestic disturbance involving UFC octagon girl Arianny Celeste, according a report released Tuesday.

Police also charged Praveen Chandra, 34, of Sherman Oaks, Calif. Both were held on battery domestic violence charges.

They were jailed early Saturday on charges of battery domestic violence after a vase-tossing brawl erupted about 4:30 a.m.

Chandra told police that the couple had had blowups in recent weeks, one in California and another in Hawaii.

She was booked under the name of Arianny Lopez. Lopez, 26, and Chandra told officers they have been dating for seven months.

Lopez told a Wynn security guard she had been choked. The police report said officers found no marks. Asked whether they had prior incidents, she told detectives, "Yes, he always pins me down, but it hasn't been this bad."

The disturbance started in the limo, according to the report, when she started reading his text messages and "felt he was making derogatory statements about her to unknown females."

Chandra told police Lopez kicked him in the nose during the limo ride to the Wynn.

They apparently kissed and made up because during dinner at Wynn's Mizumi restaurant, formerly Okada, she tweeted a photo of herself in an elegant dress. A few hours later she tweeted a photo that showed a man nuzzling against her neck, and the caption: "forever n always??"

About 3:30 a.m. she tweeted a photo that appeared to show her making an angry face. The caption read: "I be going crayyyy (slang for crazy) …"

The report indicated Chandra took video of her acting out. On the video, she was seen yelling and crying and accusing Chandra of "not paying for her bills" the report stated.

Lopez, a Playboy cover girl, had scratches on her arm and had cut her foot.

Neither required medical attention, the report said.
