Obama names Nevadan to Hispanic education panel

WASHINGTON — President Obama on Friday announced his attention to appoint Nancy Brune, executive director of the Kenny Guinn Center for Policy Priorities, to the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.

Brune also is a senior fellow of the Boyd Law School at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Obama’s announcement also included his intention to nominate Beatriz Rendón, vice president of Educational Outreach at Arizona State University, to the same commission.

“I am honored that these talented individuals have decided to serve our country,” the president said in a written statement released by the White House.

“They bring their years of experience and expertise to this Administration, and I look forward to working with them.”
