KB to host free home seminar today

To assist potential homebuyers, KB Home is offering a How to Buy a Home event today from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at its KB Home Studio at 5655 Badura Ave.

The free seminar, which includes lunch, provides home shoppers with detailed information about the homebuying process. A mortgage analysis and loan expert will be there to answer questions.

"In today's market, it is all about making smart choices; and attending the How to Buy a Home event is the first step toward making an informed decision," said KB Home division President Rob McGibney.

Shoppers who decide to buy a KB home will go through the builder's signature Built to Order experience, which means they choose things that matter most to them, McGibney said. First, homebuyers choose a neighborhood and floor plan. Then, they meet with a design consultant at the KB Home Studio, where they can personalize every aspect of their home, from the cabinets and flooring to stereo and security systems.

From there, their KB home is built just for them from the ground up, and KB Home employees keep the homebuyer informed from the time construction begins to the moment they receive their keys, according to McGibney.

Homes in its Las Vegas communities have earned the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star as well as NV Energy's Energy Plus certifications.

The builder is able to estimate a home's monthly energy utility costs using its energy performance guide.

Similar to an mpg sticker on cars, the epg provides homebuyers with the estimated monthly electric and gas costs.

To attend the event, from the Las Vegas Beltway, exit at Decatur Boulevard heading south. Turn right on Badura Avenue, and go two miles to the studio on the left. For further information, call 266-8400.
