SheaXero homes save money on power bills

Shea Homes at Ardiente, an age-qualified community in North Las Vegas, is changing the game by offering its SheaXero - No Electric Bill Home - which works to eliminate power bills with its new, energy-efficient features.

Now, living in the desert no longer means homeowners have to accept escalating energy costs.

"What would you do if you had an extra $3,000 a year? I only ask because that's what members can save with Ardiente's SheaXero home," said Ryan Smith, sales manager at Ardiente. "SheaXero means Trilogy members don't pay for their electric bill, and the cost of having an energy-efficient house isn't tacked on to the price of the home."

High-powered, solar-power systems are at the heart of every SheaXero home, producing clean, renewable energy that offsets electricity consumption, saving retired baby boomers thousands of dollars every year, Smith said.

Ardiente includes SheaXero - No Electric Bill Home - features as a standard in all of its SheaXero Series homes.

While many builders charge an additional $30,000 for homes with these features, Ardiente isn't currently charging extra for solar, Smith said.

On an annual basis for an average family of two, SheaXero homes generate as much energy as they use and come standard with energy-saving features such as Whirlpool Energy Star appliances, Trane energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, low-emissivity 3 vinyl windows and cathedral attic insulation and blown-in insulation, according to Smith.

"We know many boomers live on a fixed income," he said. "They need a reliable place to retire that's practical, environmentally friendly, well-built. Our attention to detail, resort-style living and reasonable prices are all reasons why homebuyers feel comfortable living out their dream in our community."

Minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip and close to the desert mountains, Ardiente offers residents a resort-style lifestyle that revolves around wellness, exploration and close, personal connections, Smith added.

At the hub of the community is a private, 20,000-square-foot clubhouse featuring two resort-style pools, fitness center, group exercise studio and a multipurpose meeting facility.

Shea Homes was recently awarded the J.D. Power Customer Service Champion Award for the second year in a row, which honors companies that excel in "people, presentation, price, process and product."

Recipients represent the top 5 percent of trusted national brands, and Shea Homes is the only homebuilder ever to be honored with this award two years in a row.
