Summerlin sees more than 200 homes sold this year


More than 200 new homes have sold in Summerlin in 2012, nearly exceeding the total number of new homes sold last year, and surpassing 2012 sales goals just five months into the year, according to Kevin Orrock, president of Summerlin, a development of The Howard Hughes Corp.

"The Southern Nevada economy has definitely turned a corner, and our strong home sales that have far exceeded expectations are proof positive of that," Orrock said. "We're already starting to plan new neighborhoods to accelerate home production, something we haven't had to think about for a few years during the downturn. It feels great to be thinking and planning for future development."

"Summerlin and its homebuilder partners are already planning for a recovery that appears to possibly be sooner rather than later. There are also future projects in the planning stages that will continue to advance and enhance the community and lifestyle that Summerlin has been known for in its 20-year history," he said.

Currently, 14 new-home neighborhoods offering more than 60 home floor plans are selling in Summerlin. Floor plans range from 1,450 to nearly 4,000 square feet with prices starting in the mid-$100,000s. Home styles include luxury, golf-course-adjacent midrise luxury condominiums; townhomes and a wide range of one- and two-story single-family homes.

Homebuilders include KB Home, Lennar, Pulte Homes, Richmond American Homes, Toll Brothers, William Lyon Homes and Woodside Homes.

Actively selling neighborhoods are located in four villages: The Canyons, The Mesa, The Paseos and Summerlin Centre West.

Mira Villa is the final neighborhood selling in The Canyons, a 754-acre village, home to several neighborhoods, TPC Las Vegas and JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa.

Andalusia and Barcelona are selling in The Paseos village, a nearly 800-acre, hacienda-inspired village near Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

One of Summerlin's newest villages, The Paseos is under active construction with more than half of the village remaining for future development. Residents have a trail system that runs through the village in addition to a 12.5-acre park, The Paseos Park.

Adjacent to the Spring Mountains, The Mesa is a nearly 500-acre desert contemporary-inspired village home to The Mesa Park, a 19-acre park with baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts. Adelina, Ladera Terrace, Ventana Amado, Terraza Amado, Amado Ridge and Amado Crest are all currently selling in The Mesa, Summerlin's newest and most southern village developed to date.

Summerlin Centre West is a nearly 300-acre village west of the Las Vegas Beltway at West Charleston Boulevard and within walking distance to Red Rock Casino Resort Spa and Canyon Pointe Shopping Center. West Park Villas, West Park Courtyards, Traccia and Villa Trieste are selling in this village.
