Distinctive white canopies top the area's newest outlet mall. Las Vegas Premium Outlets, opening in August 2003, features several stores that are new to or rare in outlet malls -- French Connection, Elie Tahari, Theory, Dolce & Gabbana and St. John Company Store, among others. And it includes stores that have become standards in outlet malls -- Liz Claiborne and Tommy Hilfiger, for starters.

The complex of over 120 stores and restaurants is set in an outdoor, campus-style mall. The canopies and oval-shaped walkways keep shoppers from being too overheated in the sun. Misting "towers" use fans to spread moisture along the walkways during the long summer months.

To accommodate foreign tourists, the mall broodcasts announcements about the location of its information office in Spanish, German and Japanese. Japanese tourists may use a currency exchange vending machine at the food court.

The food court has indoor and outdoor seating. Six kiddie rides are available for the younger set.

The mall is minutes from downtown and the Strip, accessible from I-15 at the West Charleston exit. A shoppers' express bus loop runs from downtown to the mall and charges $1 per rider.
