Las Vegas bettor turns $5 into $305K on parlay with William Hill sports books

A Las Vegas resident hit the jackpot at William Hill sports books this week, and he needed a minor miracle from Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
The bettor collected $305,375 by going 15-for-15 picking straight-up basketball winners on William Hill’s progressive parlay card. The weekly entry fee is $5.
He selected 12 college basketball winners - Texas, Utah, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Purdue, Stanford, Middle Tennessee, Arkansas, Gonzaga, Ohio State, Wisconsin and California — on Saturday and Sunday. He selected two NBA winners — Detroit and Golden State — on Saturday.
The Warriors’ 121-118 win at Oklahoma City was anything but routine. Golden State trailed 103-99 with 14 seconds remaining in regulation. After a layup by Klay Thompson and a turnover, Andre Iguodala was fouled with 0.7 seconds left and made both free throws to force overtime. Curry’s 38-foot jumper in the final second won the game.
On Monday, the bettor needed Kansas to win at Texas, and it was no sweat as the Jayhawks rolled 86-56.
Michael Grodsky, William Hill’s director of marketing, said the winner hedged an unspecified amount on the Monday game. He played 100 cards last week, all of them with Kansas. He asked to remain anonymous.
A total of 10,011 entries were placed last week in Nevada. This weekend’s progressive jackpot resets to $35,040.
