In case you missed it: Half-court up-heave-al

Talk about starting off the school year with a bang.

A Colorado State University freshman earned himself free tuition for a year by nailing a half-court heave in front of thousands of screaming fans during a CSU pep rally Saturday night.

Andrew Schneeweis had his seat number randomly drawn during the freshman orientation and was told if he could hit a half-court shot four Rams coaches would cover the cost of his tuition for a year.

Oh, and they gave him three tries.

Calm and collected, Schneeweis, who likely now has the happiest parents on the planet, lined up just behind the Rams logo and with ice in his veins nailed his first attempt as the crowd erupted like CSU just won the national championship.

“I”;ve made half-court shots just playing before, but not under pressure like that,” Schneeweis told “When I went up there I knew it was going it. I could see it.”

Forking over the cash to pay for Schneeweis”; freshman classes: Larry Eustachy, Men”;s Basketball head coach; Tom Hilbert, Volleyball head coach; Jim McElwain, football head coach; and Ryun Williams, Women”;s Basketball head coach.

Forking over the pounds for Schneeweis”; Freshman 15: The lunch lady, who was likely prepping Monday”;s chimichangas instead of witnessing Schneeweis”; moment of glory.
