Vince Neil is bringing football back to his current home sweet home of Las Vegas.
The Motley Crue frontman recently got the go ahead from Arena Football League officials to kickstart a new Las Vegas AFL franchise. The league currently has 14 teams.
Neil, who recently bought into the AFL’s Jacksonville Sharks, isn’t the first aging rocker to go from girls, girls, girls to football, football, football. With his AFL ownership, he finds himself in the same ol’ situation as Kiss bandmates Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, who own the Los Angeles Kiss, and Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, who owned part of the Philadelphia Soul from 2004-2008.
Neil’s team will be the first AFL team in Las Vegas since the Las Vegas Gladiators left for Cleveland after the 2007 season.
Now that Neil has a piece of the action, his next step is to find a home arena for the team. Once that’s in place, the team is expected to get on with the show in time for the 2015 AFL season.
