Here are ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ 23 Finale matchups

A breakdown of the fights on the main card of “The Ultimate Fighter” 23 Finale card Friday at the MGM Grand Garden:

Joanna Jedrzejczyk (11-0) vs. Claudia Gadelha (13-1)

Class: For Jedrzejczyk’s women’s bantamweight title

Line: Jedrzejczyk minus-130

StoryLine: The debate still rages about whom won the first fight. Jedrzejczyk was awarded a split decision, but Gadelha has loudly protested ever since. Now she has a chance to settle the score. It’s no secret these two despise each other, but they are the world’s two best 115-pound female fighters. Gadelha was the more well-rounded fighter the first time, doggedly pursuing takedowns and staying busier in the standup. Jedrzejczyk won with her power shots. She’ll have to do more because Gadelha will be better prepared this time, and Jedrzejczyk wasn’t sharp in her last title defense, against Valerie Letourneau. Regardless of the outcome, it’s unlikely these two will be attending any cookouts together this summer.

Pick: Gadelha by decision

Khalil Rountree (4-0) vs. Andrew Sanchez (7-2)

Class: Light heavyweight

Line: Sanchez minus-170

StoryLine: In a matchup to determine the season champion in the light heavyweight tournament, Las Vegan Khalil Rountree will look to take advantage of the second chance he was given to win the show. He was eliminated in the quarterfinals by friend and teammate Cory Hendricks, only to replace Hendricks when he was injured. Sanchez is quite talented. Rountree’s power is the great equalizer, though. If he can find some space to land his shots, he can pull the upset.

Pick: Rountree by second-round knockout

Tatiana Suarez (3-0) vs. Amanda Cooper (1-1)

Class: Women’s strawweight

Line: Suarez minus-400

StoryLine: Suarez is an immense talent with an incredible story. It seems as if her winning the women’s strawweight tournament season title is destiny. She was the top-ranked wrestler in the nation in 2011 and well on her way to an Olympic journey before she suffered a neck injury and was diagnosed with cancer. Once she fully recovered, she used her wrestling base to develop her mixed martial arts game, and the results have been encouraging. Cooper might be overmatched.

Pick: Suarez by second-round submission

Will Brooks (17-1) vs. Ross Pearson (21-10-0, 1 No Contest)

Class: Lightweight

Line: Brooks minus-360

StoryLine: Some UFC fans will get their first taste of one of the best lightweights in the world when Brooks makes his organizational debut. He has used his well-rounded, cerebral approach to find success in Bellator and has made no secret he plans to do the same in his new home after signing a free-agent deal last month. Pearson, more of a power puncher, has done his best to talk Brooks into a brawl. He won’t let that happen. As long as Brooks can get comfortable early, he should wear down Pearson.

Pick: Brooks by decision

Doo Ho Choi (13-1) vs. Thiago Tavares (24-6-1)

Class: Featherweight

Line: Choi minus-235

StoryLine: Choi has big power and is getting more comfortable showcasing it. His last two victories have taken less than two minutes combined. Choi has won 12 straight fights, the last seven by knockout. Tavares is a tough, durable veteran who will present problems if he can get the fight to the ground. Choi would be best served to wrap up the festivities early, and he’s capable of doing so.

Pick: Choi by first-round knockout

Joaquim Silva (8-0) vs. Andrew Holbrook (11-0)

Class: Lightweight

Line: Silva minus-130

StoryLine: Both won split decisions in their UFC debuts in their last fights. Holbrook is a wrestler from Indianapolis. Silva, a Brazilian, had finished all seven opponents in his pro career before he was pushed to the distance by Nazareno Malegarie. There isn’t much to separate these two, so taking the underdog looks like the way to go.

Pick: Holbrook by decision
