NFL veteran, brother of embattled UFC star, suspended for PED violation

The recent rash of UFC-related drug testing issues has extended beyond the octagon.

Arthur Jones has been suspended four games without pay by the NFL for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

Jones, a defensive lineman for the Indianapolis Colts, is the older brother of former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

The younger Jones was removed from his scheduled UFC 200 main event title bout against Daniel Cormier earlier this month when an out-of-competition test was flagged by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.

Arthur Jones has missed 23 games over the last two seasons because of injury and will now miss at least the first four of the 2016 season.

It is unknown what substance is responsible for the failed test.

Jon Jones was temporarily suspended pending adjudication of his case after testing positive for banned estrogen blockers. He was pulled from his fight three days before the historic event at T-Mobile Arena and replaced by Anderson Silva.

He faces a potential two-year ban from USADA.

The youngest of the three brothers, Chandler, also faced a substance issue this year.

After reportedly ingesting synthetic marijuana in January, then-Patriots defensive lineman Chandler Jones walked to a nearby police station in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in search of medical help.

He was subsequently traded to the Arizona Cardinals in the offseason.
