Member of UNLV’s 1987 Final Four team dies, school says

Providence associate head coach Andre LaFleur and New Mexico State special assistant to the head coach Brandon Mason will join new UNLV basketball coach Marvin Menzies, sources said Thursday.

The sources would not comment on the record because the University of Nevada Board of Regents have not approved Menzies’ five-year contract. That vote takes place Friday morning.

LaFleur was at Providence for five seasons after spending 10 years at Connecticut. Mason, a former Aggies player, spent one season at New Mexico State and has two years of experience in the Mountain West as he video administrator at New Mexico.

Whether Mason will remain in the same role at UNLV or be part of main three-coach staff is uncertain.
