Quarterback Caleb Herring went through drills at UNLV’s pro day Thursday in an effort to make his NFL dreams come true.
He isn’t expected to get drafted, but Herring could sign as a free agent and find his way into a team’s training camp.
Herring completed 59.5 percent of his passes (421 for 708) for 4388 yards in his career. He managed 38 touchdowns against 14 interceptions. As a rusher, he ran 243 times for 472 yards and seven touchdowns.
He is also the first quarterback to lead UNLV to a bowl game since Jason Thomas in 2000. Herring led UNLV to a 7-6 record and berth in the Heart of Dallas Bowl in 2013, the Rebels’ best season in 13 years.
