The Las Vegas Strip has long been famous for its massive luxury resorts, quirky themes and non-stop action, but rarely do visitors (and even some many locals) know the stories behind the icons.
The ever-changing street used to be littered with themed hotels, some of which were phased out and some of which were demolished. Most of the lasting ones are moving away from their themes, but some stand tall, along with their landmarks.
In the last decade, new hotel-casinos have sprung up as instant classics, usually with something about them that sticks in a matter or months.
