For many 90-somethings, a good time might include a life of leisurely retirement and quiet relaxation. But for one 95-year-old World War II veteran, entertainment can only be found within the lavish poolside oases of Sin City.
San Diego resident Sidney Walton’s ideal vacation getaway doesn’t follow the mainstream Vegas formula. There’s no gambling, no Cirque shows and no conventions.
So, why does the nonagenarian dive headfirst into the desert, or this case, the pool?
The answer: “It keeps me young!” Sidney said. “I like celebrating life with the young generation.”
Walton’s partner-in-crime and full-time caretaker is none other than his son, Paul, 58.
“It’s his choice, and if he’d rather be seeing young Betties instead of old biddies, then Las Vegas pool parties are where we’ll be tomorrow,” his son said.
Over the last couple of years, the Walton duo have taken the world by storm, met some noteworthy individuals — Dalai Lama, Prince Harry, Toby Keith, etc. — and their adventures can be seen on the Facebook page, Go Sidney Go.
