Celebrity chef Carla Pellegrino brings authentic Italian touch to Henderson dining scene at Bratalian

After showcasing her years of experience around Las Vegas at various restaurants, chef Carla Pellegrino is paying homage to Italian Neapolitan cuisine through her Henderson-based restaurant Bratalian, 10740 S. Eastern Ave.

The goal of the restaurant is to give people an authentic taste of Italy. Beyond the menu, Bratalian is decorated as though people were sitting in the streets of Italy. Inside, there are clotheslines that hang above the entrance with shirts, skirts and pants hanging from them, giving an authentic feel of what an Italian neighborhood might look like.

Like the decor, the menu’s flavors are similarly authentic. Pellegrino has even put her own spin on brunch favorites, with items such as the chicken breast cordon blu and waffles, featuring a breaded chicken breast stuffed with Swiss cheese and ham, fried in clarified butter over freshly made buttermilk and cream waffles and topped with Vermont maple syrup, Chantilly cream and fresh fruit salad for $15; spaghetti cabonara frittata, a flat Italian omelet with DeCecco spaghetti, pancetta, smoked Provolone and Roman Pecorino for $14; and the Mediterranean omelet with egg whites, tomatoes, spinach, champignon mushrooms and feta cheese for $11.

For something on the sweeter side, there is the brioche French toast ($12) or mango mousse tart ($10).

Brunch is served from noon to 5 p.m. Fridays through Sundays. Bratalian also has breakfast and dinner items available.

During selected mornings, customers can indulge in options such as the Roman frittata, a flat Italian omelet tossed with caramelized onions, fresh tomatoes and pancetta for $13, or The Mom’s Hug, which is scrambled eggs with a choice of Parmesan, Swiss, feta or fontina cheese, served with two sausages and fruit salad for $12.

At night, menu options include bistecca alla pizzaiola, which is a pan-seared, 16-ounce New York strip steak ($38) and cotoletta alla parmeggiana, which is veal or chicken layered in marinara sauce ($24).

No meal would be complete without items such as the tiramisu ($10), ricotta cheesecake ($10) or assorted flavors of gelato ($10).

Bratalian is open from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays.
