3. Big Game 10K: The running festival is set to offer a 10K, a 5K and a Combo Challenge (10K and 5K) and Kids Fun Run Feb. 7 in downtown Las Vegas to benefit the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation. The event is also set to feature the three-day Big Game Health and Fitness Expo, with mini-sessions of meditation, yoga, breathing exercises, healthy meal prepping and tips on SMART goal setting. The event is set to include a 5k run/walk, a kids’ activity corner, live music, a beer garden and an Irish jig. Aquatic classes: High School Tune-up swim classes are planned through Feb. 20 at Municipal Pool, 431 E. Bonanza Road. The classes are meant to teach and improve swimming techniques and build endurance by learning how to use a diving block and make flip turns. Friday class from 6 to 7:30 p.m. will focus on strokes and technique, and Saturday class from 9 to 10:30 a.m. will focus on endurance, starts and turns. The tune-up classes are $4 per visit. Kickin’ it for Cartwheel: The kickball tournament hosted by the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation is planned at 8 a.m. Feb. 20 at the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex, 298 N. Arroyo Grande Blvd. Groups, companies and individuals 15 or older can register teams of between 10 and 12 people to compete, with registration costing $250 and $300, respectively, due by Feb. 15. Pahrump Hot Air Balloon Festival: The annual event is set for noon Feb. 26 and 8 a.m. Feb. 27 and 28 at Petrack Park, 150 state Route 160, in Pahrump, about 60 miles west of Las Vegas. The family-friendly festival is set to bring together more than 20 hot air balloon pilots from the western states, music, entertainment, food, arts and crafts, and more.
