RESIDENTS CAN REGISTER FOR PARK PICNIC SHELTERS ONLINE

The city of Las Vegas has expanded its RecTrac registration system to include park picnic shelter rentals.

The rentals start at $15, with higher prices based on factors such as the number of guests and whether there will be music or alcohol at the event.

Residents can view and request reservations for specific dates in 10-hour blocks by visiting recreation.lasvegasnevada.gov. For more information, call 702-229-2290 or email myclvrectrac@lasvegasnevada.gov.

GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR CLARK COUNTY TEACHERS

CenturyLink is offering $35,000 grants to connect teachers with technology in the Las Vegas Valley.

Teachers working in public or private schools can apply for a grant, and all applications are scheduled to be reviewed by a panel of area technology professionals. The deadline for applications is Jan. 10.

THE ANIMAL FOUNDATION LAUNCHES ONLINE FOSTER LIST

The Animal Foundation, 655 N. Mojave Road, recently announced the launch of Online Foster List, a listing of animals at the shelter in need of foster homes.

Animals that are temporarily unable to be adopted due to minor medical issues or are too young to be spayed or neutered need foster homes.

Foster commitments typically range from two weeks to two months. The foundation said it will provide food, cat litter and any necessary medications at no cost to the foster families. Regular check­ups at The Animal Foundation may be required.

Residents interested in fostering pets with The Animal Foundation must complete an application online.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES SEEKS HELP FEEDING FAMILIES FOR THANKSGIVING

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is seeking community help to provide turkeys and groceries to families in need for Thanksgiving.

Volunteers are needed at the charity’s new Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

ENROLLMENT ASSISTANCE TO BE AVAILABLE FOR AFFORDABLE CARE ACT

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is partnering with East Valley Family Services to provide information and enrollment assistance at several libraries for the Affordable Care Act, commonly called Obamacare.

Sessions are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Nov. 25 at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, and from 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Enterprise Library 25 E. Shelbourne Ave.

Nevada enrollment for health plans is scheduled to close in March.
