March 30, 2016 - 11:50 am
Downtown Summerlin kicked off the second year of its partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on March 12, unveiling the 2016 “Celebration of Life” sculptures displayed throughout the shopping center at 1980 Festival Plaza Drive.
The community event included kid-centric activities such as a petting zoo, a spring-themed social media photo backdrop, relay games, flower crown making, umbrella painting, hopscotch, cookie decorating and live music.
The “Celebration of Life” exhibit features a collection of 10 3-D, 5-foot sculptures created by Summerlin-based artist Dorit Schwartz. Each is painted by a variety of artists, including Michael Godard, Vladimir Kush and Alexandra Nechita. Some of the sculptures will serve as permanent fixtures at Downtown Summerlin.
