MOONLIGHT MADNESS OBSTACLE COURSE PLANNED FOR AUG. 31

Camp Rhino’s Rhino Moonlight Madness obstacle course race is set for 7 p.m. Aug. 31 at Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road. The cost is $25. Competitors must run a half-mile between laps. The goal is to make it five laps for 12½ miles and 25 obstacles. Participants are welcome to do one to four laps depending on ability level. OVER 40 BASKETBALL LEAGUE SET TO BEGIN

NEW SKY ZONE TRAMPOLINE PARK OFFERING PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGES

The new Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park, 7440 Dean Martin Drive, No. 201, is offering dodgeball tournaments, skyrobics and jump programs for all ages. The park contains 151 trampolines, party rooms, a foam pit, a basketball court, a parents’ lounge and a cafe. RED ROCK 5K COMING SEPT. 14 TO ARROYO GOLF COURSE

The 2013 Red Rock 5K is planned for 8 a.m. Sept. 14 at the Arroyo Golf Course at Red Rock Country Club, 2250 Red Springs Drive. The annual event is dedicated to the memory of high school cross country legend Travis “T-Bolt” Boulton.

GOLF POSITIVELY HELPS KIDS

The Foundation for Positively Kids, a local nonprofit that provides a continuum of medical care for medically fragile and special needs children, plans its annual Swing for the Kids golf tournament Sept. 16 at TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Center Circle.

All proceeds benefit medically fragile children in Clark County.

The cost for a foursome is $750 or $200 for individual golfers. The cost includes 18 holes with a cart, an event T-shirt, a golf survival kit, breakfast and an awards luncheon.

Golfers will also have a chance to win $1 million, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle from Las Vegas Harley-Davidson and a Toyota Highlander SUV from Centennial Toyota if they hit a hole-in-one on established holes.

RUN OR WALK TO HELP ALS RESEARCH

The 13th Annual Walk n’ Roll and 3rd Annual 5K Run Benefit ALS of Nevada are set for 8 a.m. Sept. 21 at Police Memorial Park, 3250 Metro Academy Way. Registration is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. Opening ceremony is slated for 7:45 a.m.

The ALS event honors Lou Gehrig, A Hall of Fame baseball player who died from ALS in 1941. Runners are encouraged to wear their favorite baseball team’s jersey or hat. The event is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible.

The cost is $30 for adult (18 or older) walkers, rollers and runners and $20 per participant 5-17 years for the walk and run. Children 5 or younger are free. Prices increase the day of the event. GOLF TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT HEALTH UNDERWRITERS

The Clark County Association of Health Underwriters and Club Blue LV plan to host the sixth annual Charity Golf Tournament at 8 a.m. Sept. 26 at the Arroyo Golf Course at the Red Rock Country Club, 2250 Red Springs Drive.

Registration is set for 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. A barbecue lunch and charity raffle are set for 12:30 to 2 p.m. A portion of the proceeds is marked to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs.

SHRINERS golf tournament PLANNED FOR OCTOBER AT TPC summerlin

The 2013 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open golf tournament is planned for Oct. 14-20 at TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Center Circle. The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is an official PGA Tour event. The 2013 tournament is set to feature more than 130 PGA Tour professionals competing for a $6 million purse, with a winner’s share of $1,080,000. All proceeds will benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The event’s fourth annual Women’s Day luncheon, Kick Off Your Heels, is planned for Oct. 15. It will be catered and feature a guest speaker. Tickets are $125 per guest. The luncheon sold out in 2012, so early purchases are encouraged.

HUMANA GUIDANCE CENTERS SPONSOR WALKING GROUPS

Humana Guidance Centers are offering free walking groups led by a certified personal trainer. The program aims to positively affect seniors’ health by motivating and engaging them to take action and improve their fitness level and mental outlook by learning the proper walking and stretching techniques.

Participants will receive a free pedometer and at the end of each outing can upload their steps at a Guidance Center computer kiosk or at home to tracks steps taken, distance and calories burned.

The program offers a variety of activities and special events that promote individuality, self-esteem and independence. SUMMER RECREATION EVENTS OPEN FOR YOUTHS AND TEENS

The Dula Gym’s Summer Open Recreation for youths and teens ages 10-18 is set to be open noon to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at 441 E. Bonanza Road. Youths can attend Fridays and Saturdays when the gym is available. The recreation periods include open gym and weekly competitions in games and sports and are free with RecPass for participants 18 or younger with parent/guardian approval.
