Christopher James Lee was born at 1:11 p.m. on Jan. 11 at St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena campus, in Henderson. At the same minute, Lylah Lynne Barnes entered a world full of ones at Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center in the southwest valley.

A bill in the works for the upcoming legislative session aims to thwart methamphetamine makers by making legal drugs with certain ingredients available by prescription only. The bill would require customers to have a prescription from a doctor to purchase cold medicines that contain ephedrine, pseudoephedrine or phenylpropanolamine.
Gov. Brian Sandoval said Wednesday he wants to end state employee furloughs and instead cut their pay by 5 percent. Under the furlough program established in 2009, most state workers got an unpaid day off a month and that cut their pay by 4.6 percent.
