The double teams of Kaya Richardson and Roxanne Okano,and Caroline Hsu and Priya Raju were 3-0 to help Palo Verde’s girls tennis team stave off Faith Lutheran for a 10-9 road victory via a 4-2 tiebreaker on Thursday afternoon.

Boys Tennis: Bishop Gorman puts away Foothill

The doubles teams of Max Wolfson and Frankie Ward, and Oliver Filipovic and Franco Alvarez each went 3-0 to lead Bishop Gorman’s boys tennis team to a 12-6 home win over Foothill on Thursday afternoon.

Andrada Stanciu and Ariana Stanciu each finished 3-0 in singles, and Sierra Vista’s girls tennis team won the tiebreaker points 35-31 to hold on for a 10-9 home win over Desert Oasis on Wednesday.

Andre Shabazz had 31 assists, 10 digs, seven kills and two aces Wednesday to help the Durango boys volleyball team to a 25-15, 17-25, 27-25, 31-29 home win over Shadow Ridge.

I-A WRESTLING: Payno remains undefeated, leads Rattlers to title

Dai’jon Payno, who entered the tournament with a 17-0 record, captured his first region title with a 7-6 decision over Faith Lutheran’s Cameron Cox at 195 pounds and helped Mojave win its first region title since 2008.
