Childhood friends become roommates at One Las Vegas

When Cathy Conger and Suzette Stutton met each other as toddlers, they never imagined that 50 years later they’d live under the same roof at One Las Vegas, a twin-tower high-rise condominium community on Las Vegas Boulevard’s southern end.

The duo grew up on the same street in Fountain Valley, California, and remained friends over the years, seeing each other through every major life event, including weddings, career moves and divorces.

“We always exchanged birthday and holiday cards over the mail, even if we hadn’t actually spoken in years,” Conger said. “Several years ago, I joined Facebook and Suzette found my profile. We spent countless hours catching each other up on our lives, and when she told me she needed a roommate, I knew it was fate, since I was looking for one, too. I sold most of my belongings, moved in with Suzette and the rest is history.”

Conger has worked for the same company for more than 22 years and travels frequently for a living. Because her oldest son lives in Las Vegas, she visits frequently and discovered One Las Vegas several years ago.

Unlike Conger, who is a jetsetter, Stutton had lived in California all her life, but considered moving and began looking for work in Las Vegas. In 2014, the pair moved into a two-bedroom rental home at One Las Vegas, with mountain views and a floor plan offering dual master bedrooms.

“It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with Las Vegas, and our new home at One Las Vegas has plenty to do with it,” Stutton said. “Earlier this year, we made our rental home permanent by buying it, thanks in part to some great incentives offered by the property owner. Working with the One Las Vegas team made the process smooth and easy — from helping us select flooring upgrades, new appliances and walking us through the financing application process. They stood by us every step of the way.”

Stutton, an avid cook, especially appreciates the upgraded kitchen that creates the perfect space to make her favorite recipes. Conger likes the sense of security; she never worries about her home when she leaves on extended work trips.

Stutton and Conger consider their location a major plus, because it is only a short drive to the Strip where Suzette works as a massage therapist. With only one car between them, One Las Vegas’ proximity to the airport is a real plus for Stutton, who frequently drops off Conger for her business trips.

“I’m now a grandma and I can’t wait for my daughter and her family to visit us at One Las Vegas,” Conger said. “While we own a two-bedroom home, the living room is so spacious that it allows us more than enough room for visitors. We can’t wait to enjoy the pool this summer, and we look forward to attending the many resident mixers, particularly the wine tasting events. Among the many things we have in common is our love for red wine.”

Of the twin 20-story towers, DK Las purchased 295 of the project’s 359 residences. Homes range from 831 to 2,857 square feet with many floor plans offering views of both the mountains and the Strip. One-bedroom homes are priced from the low $200,000s; two-bedroom homes from the high $200,000s; and three-bedroom homes from the low $400,000s. The penthouse, offering 3,000 square feet of sweeping views, is priced at $1.1 million.

One Las Vegas is close to Interstate 15, the 215 Beltway and a short drive from McCarran International Airport. Town Square, a few blocks north of the property, provides one-stop shopping and scores of dining and entertainment options right in the neighborhood.

For more information, visit the One Las Vegas on-site sales center at 8255 S. Las Vegas Blvd.; or online at info@theonelv.com.

The sales center is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
