Business owners settle in at Lago Vista at Lake Las Vegas — PHOTOS

Updated September 11, 2018 - 4:44 pm

When Jack Ball left Arizona and moved to Las Vegas in 1995 to open his window fashion business, his flight over the city landed him a preview of the development he and his wife, Patti, would one day call home.

More than 20 years later, the Balls are celebrating their long-awaited move to Lake Las Vegas and settling into William Lyon’s Lago Vista community.

“We always wanted to live in Lake Las Vegas,” said Jack Ball, who has followed the growth of the community over the years. “Being boaters and people who love the water, we had this area on our radar to watch. We thought it would be an amazing place to live one day.”

As the owner of Cover It Window Fashions, Jack Ball has more opportunities than the average home shopper to visit new-home communities. His business of outfitting windows with the latest technology in screens, shutters and custom blinds takes him to new communities on a regular basis, and he said nothing compares to Lago Vista in Lake Las Vegas.

When completed, the gated community of Lago Vista will feature 52 contemporary designed homes situated near Reflection Bay Golf Club and Montelago Village. Residents have their own private beach cove with access to all the amenities of the lake and steps away from the world-class Reflection Bay golf course. Lago Vista offers four distinct contemporary plans from 3,733 square foot, single-story home to 5,032-square-foot, two-story. Lago Vista offers lakeside homesites and golf course views. Prices start in the high $700,000s.

The Balls and their 9-year-old Australian Shepard, Rain, live in a 4,300-square-foot, two-story home with four bedrooms and 4½ baths. The interior of their home is being completed by designer Perry Aubuchon who said the décor will reflect an eclectic contemporary style.

“The furniture is mostly contemporary with some traditional elements included,” Aubuchon said. “For example, we’re thinking of adding a big chandelier over the piano. We’ll have accent walls and maybe some wallpaper. The artwork will be big and bold.”

The home was built with several upgrades and features that appealed to the Balls. Highlights include the flooring throughout the home, which is a dark brown and cream color mix that looks like wood but is porcelain tile. Additionally, the great room fireplace has travertine tile all the way to the ceiling, and the gliding glass pocket doors on the backyard and courtyard sides of the great room fully recess into the wall.

“We especially enjoy the spaciousness and openness of the house,” Patti Ball said.

A standout feature is the pool that will wrap around the great room when it is completed in October. Lookers-on will be able to view the pool from the home’s main entry, the guest room on the first floor and through both sets of the gliding glass pocket doors in the great room.

The gliding doors in the great room are outfitted with Cover It’s Hunter Douglas designer screen shades with PowerView motorization that are programmed to open and close at various times of the day.

The master bedroom boasts a large master bath with a his-and-her vanity separated by a walk-in bathtub. The large shower features dual shower heads and a rain shower.

Each bedroom in the home includes a balcony, offering views of the golf course. The bedrooms at the back of the house showcase views of Reflection Bay Golf Club and the lake.

“I want to be out on the lake paddle boarding,” said Patti Ball, who grew up in Iowa and met Jack Ball when they worked at the same printing company in Phoenix.

After moving from Phoenix to Las Vegas, the duo spent a lot of time working, collecting cars and traveling.

The Balls have traveled to more than 20 locations around the world, including St. Petersburg, Russia; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and many places in Italy.

Their passion for cars is Italian in nature, favoring the Ferraris and Maseratis, but they are also loyal Cadillac fans.

Giving back to the community is high on their list of priorities. The Balls attend The Church at South Las Vegas and are avid supporters of Grant a Gift for Autism and Destiny House, a home that offers shelter for women trying to escape and re-establish their lives out of the sex industry.

The Balls provides window coverings for each organization’s facility.
