Man, 23, dies after falling down stairs at High Roller on Las Vegas Strip

A 23-year-old man died after falling down stairs Friday night in the High Roller loading area on the Las Vegas Strip.

Police were called at about 7 p.m. after the man fell down stairs on the Linq Promenade near the High Roller, located in between the Flamingo and The Linq Hotel.

Metro’s preliminary investigation found that the man was “running around on the loading area for the High Roller” when he fell about 50 feet down stairs, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Richard Meyers said.

Officers at the scene Friday night believed the 23-year-old man “entered an unauthorized area on the property and fell as a result of his actions,” Lt. William Matchko confirmed in a text later.

“He appears to have died as a result of the fall,” Matchko said.

The man was taken to University Medical Center, where he died, Meyers said.

Officers were still on the scene at 10:30 p.m. underneath the High Roller and Fly Linq Zipline after the man fell. No stairs were visible directly on the High Roller loading dock, but officers were standing under a set of stairs that appeared to lead to the start of the zip line.

The zip line was closed Friday night along with a section of the promenade directly underneath the zip line and High Roller. By 9:30 p.m. officers had reopened the walkway for pedestrians, but the zip line remained closed.

Matchko said he did not know the exact set of stairs where the man fell.

Caesar’s Entertainment, which operates The Linq Hotel, did not respond to requests for comment Friday night.

The High Roller, the world’s tallest observation wheel, located at The Linq Hotel, remained open.
